That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Air Duct Cleaning Before & After in Naperville, IL

We’ve cleaned ducts in over 52,000 homes since 2013, and we’ve photographed every run on every job. The camera doesn’t flatter. Below are real conditions we found in Naperville-area systems, what the crew did about them, and what the homeowner received in their Documented Photo Record. Scroll slowly - some of these are hard to unsee.

Layered Dust Build-Up in a 1987 Ranch Near Cress Creek

Before and after: supply register in a Naperville ranch home showing thick dust accumulation removed to bare metal
Supply register, Cress Creek area - before and after negative-pressure extraction with Rotobrush contact cleaning.

The homeowner called because every surface in the house seemed to re-dust within 48 hours of cleaning. Our camera showed a 2-inch blanket of gray particulate packed against the first elbow of the main supply trunk, right where the flex duct dropped from the basement plenum (the big distribution box that splits air to each room). The previous owner had run the system without a filter for what looked like years. We sealed the return side, applied negative-pressure extraction to the full system, and used the Rotobrush on each duct run (the individual branch lines to registers) to knock adhered debris loose. The photo record showed bare galvanized metal at every access point. The homeowner’s dusting interval went from twice a week to twice a month.

Construction Debris in a New Build Off 75th Street

Before and after: new construction ductwork in Naperville with drywall dust and wood scraps removed
New construction cleanup, 75th Street corridor - drywall compound and sawdust extracted before occupancy.

This one still surprises people. The buyers were doing a final walkthrough and noticed drywall dust puffing from a second-floor register when the blower cycled on. We found the main return plenum (the collection box that pulls air back to the furnace) half-filled with broken drywall corners, insulation scraps, and a discarded lunch wrapper. New construction crews use the ductwork as a trash chute more often than you’d hope. We extracted the debris with Nikro high-velocity equipment, then ran the Abatement Technologies HEPA filtration unit through three complete air cycles. The buyers received their photo record before closing - Haven Standard Clause 1 pricing in writing upfront, documentation included as standard.

Pet Hair Matting in a Brookdale Home with Three Shedding Dogs

Before and after: return duct in a Naperville home showing matted pet hair clog removed
Return duct, Brookdale - pet hair matting compressed by years of blower suction.

The HVAC tech had already replaced a failed blower motor and warned the homeowner the new one wouldn’t last if the return side stayed choked. Our scope camera showed a solid mat of golden retriever and Labrador hair compressed against the evaporator coil like felt. The mat was 4 inches thick at the narrowest point and had reduced effective airflow by roughly 40%. We removed the register grilles, manually extracted the hair mat, then applied negative-pressure extraction with a rotating brush head to strip the remaining residue from the duct walls. The post-cleaning photo showed the coil fins visible for the first time in years. We also noted the 16x25x1 filter slot was being squeezed with a 1-inch pleated filter rated for a smaller system - a mismatch we flagged in the written job record so they could size correctly at the hardware store.

Mold Staining in a River Run Townhouse After a Humid Summer

Before and after: flex duct in a Naperville townhouse showing dark mold staining treated and removed
Flex duct, River Run - organic growth treated with Guardsman-approved antimicrobial before mechanical cleaning.

The homeowner noticed a musty smell whenever the AC ran, strongest in the master bedroom. Our inspection found dark organic staining on the interior of the flex duct (the insulated, flexible tubing common in townhome builds) serving that room, concentrated where the duct sagged and held condensation. Naperville’s July humidity had done the rest. We treated the affected sections with an EPA-registered antimicrobial from our Guardsman line, then mechanically cleaned with the Nikro system and applied a controlled-dose sanitizer through the Honeywell fogging unit. The photo record documented pre-treatment staining, post-treatment bare surface, and the moisture reading from our calibrated meter. We also recommended a dehumidistat setting adjustment, which the homeowner handled with their HVAC contractor. The smell was gone on the next cooling cycle.

Severe Debris in a Pre-War Colonial Near Downtown Naperville

Before and after: original galvanized ductwork in a historic Naperville home with decades of debris removed
Original galvanized ductwork, downtown Naperville - 70+ years of accumulation extracted without damaging vintage runs.

This 1947 system had never been cleaned. The supply registers in the dining room were barely pushing air, and the homeowner assumed the furnace was failing. Our camera found the duct runs (the individual branches) reduced to half their original diameter by compacted debris - a mix of soot from the original coal conversion, decades of skin cells and textile fiber, and what looked like crumbled mouse nesting near a basement penetration. We worked carefully: old galvanized seams can separate under aggressive pressure. We used low-RPM contact brushing with the Rotobrush and staged our negative-pressure extraction in short pulses rather than sustained pull. The photo record showed the original 8-inch round restored to full diameter. Furnace replacement was no longer necessary. The homeowner’s exact words, which we did not put in the marketing copy: “I didn’t know the vents were supposed to whistle.”

Dryer Vent Fire Hazard in a West Highlands Condo

Before and after: clogged dryer vent in a Naperville condo with lint blockage fully removed
Dryer vent run, West Highlands - complete lint extraction from a 35-foot vertical rise.

The condo association had sent a notice about extended dryer cycle times across multiple units. This third-floor unit’s vent rose 35 feet vertically before exiting the roof, and the homeowner’s cycles had stretched past 90 minutes. Our scope showed a solid lint plug 12 feet up, just below a damaged section of flex transition where the previous owner had kinked it against the wall. Dryer vent fires peak in winter when lint gets compacted by moisture and the heating element runs hotter. We extracted the plug with Nikro rotary tools and replaced the damaged transition with rigid metal per Illinois fire code. The post-cleaning airflow reading hit 1,200 FPM (feet per minute), up from 180. The photo record included the lint plug, the damaged transition, and the new installation. Cycle time dropped to 42 minutes.
